'life in the DR' Life

I do not know that much about life in the DR, but it seems to be something that would be of significant interest to me. Would anyone be willing to tell of what it is about this place that would easily attract a person to it? Besides the fact that it is located in the Caribbean, of course.

Life is the Dominican Republic is a particular blend of paradise and hell. No, I donīt mean to drive you away, where is it different? Life here has all the ingredients. Letīs divide the facts: people, work, recreation, authority and legal living, politics, weather, political freedom, etc. we could go on and on, but letīs stop there.

You will find the friendliest people anywhere there, Dominicans have the warmest and most hospitable attitude toward expats. In fact, you will find that they make no distinction at all between expats and themselves.

Regarding work, itīs all a question of finding someone to sponsor you. Dominicans are very gregarious and if your make it into their particular "tribe" averything will be in your favor.

Dominican politics are something that you have to get used to. Itīs not simple. There definitely IS a democracy, canīt doubt that. With its quirks. Have to get used to it.

The population is very preocupied with money matters and it seems that the only thing that matters is recreation, dancing and money.

It takes getting used to.
