Oil in Higuey

Thank author of this post/commentIn the La Lima section of the Province of Altagracia, seven kilometers from the city of Higuey, on the banks of the Sanate River, if you dig a little bit a slick of smelly crude oil will emerge from the earth.

As stated in an article in today´s Listin Diario newspaper, GH Geochemical Services, Ltd., a company from Bebington, United Kingdom, analyzed the substance and declared that it is "good quality natural crude oil".

Mr. José Amable Cordones, member of the City Council, stated that when the engineers from the Mining Agency showed up and saw that they became very excited.

The local authorities are hoping that another British company, Mdoil Limited will be given exploration rights so they can proceed to the exploitation of this resource.
